If you’re looking for cold hard plants please consider supporting one or more of our favorite nurseries. A large portion of our 1st food forest wouldn’t have been possible without these nurseries and we feel compelled to pass them along to anyone with a similar taste in plants.

Edible Acres in Trumansburg New York is our favorite nursery to support due to their relative closeness (shipping wise), philosophy, and practices. They offer very solid catalog of plants on their website and and an incredible wealth of resources on permaculture principles, practices, and projects on their Youtube channel (EdibleAcres). They are truly top-notch in their quality and communication and if you’re looking for perennial food forest plants that have been selected for hardiness, utility, and price, please consider checking them out. They offer different shipping windows throughout the year and usually sell out fast, so stay posted and get what you need before they run out!

Bagley Pond in Warner NH is one of the only nurseries we know that sells New Hampshire Ecotype perennials to retail customers online. We checked them out a few years ago and have been very impressed with how the selections we ordered have performed. If you know what you’re looking for and want NH ecotype plants, then Bagley Pond is a great resource.

Burnt Ridge in Onalaska Washington has an incredible catalog of cold hardy plants. Some of which you’d be hard pressed to find outside of their store. We were able to get access to specific cultivars of Sea-buckthorn and Honeyberry that were sold out everywhere else. While we typically like to place orders with nurseries closer to us geographically, the incredible range of offerings at Burnt Ridge drew us in. If you’re having a hard time finding what you want and/or need, check them out and you just may find that special cold hardy something you were looking for.
